What is the signifigance of a platnium credit card?

I was just issued a replacement card for one of my current credit cards, this one is platnium and the old one wasn't, the credit limit is the same though.

What is the signifigance of the platnium?|||That's right, the terms Silver, Gold and Platinum are all gimmicks mean to imply "status".

Generally, the higher your status, the more options or benefits you have ACCESS to, although you may not get access to everything available based on your credit profile. Benefits may include lower rates, higher limits, more cash advances available, trip insurance, fraud protection, etc.

It might also mean higher annual fee!! So be wary.|||Sometimes the "platinum" cards signify cards/plans with lower interest rates, no annual fees, or other good stuff like that.|||It is a marketing term.

Some platinum cards, however, offer a potentially higher credit limit and perks.

Mostly nowadays it is a marketing title to attract the consumer to the product by promising 'prestige.'
