Do you need a job to get a credit card? What are some ways to get one without a job and ways with?

I am 19 and want a credit card for when i get a job, but without any income and a total of $73 in the bank, i don't think i would get approved and the ones i was trying to apply for don't ask for co-signer, or i probably didn't go far enough. Would have a co-signer, help get me approved, would having more than one help more?

I never had a credit card before, only have a debit card.|||People under 21 must provide proof of sufficient income to qualify for a credit card or have a parent co-sign. Basically if you don't have a job, how do you plan to pay the credit card? You have to get the job first. You don't need a credit card to get a job.|||YES you need an income (read: J O B) to qualify for a credit card.

How did you imagine you would pay the bill when it comes if you have no income?

I don't think you quite understand finances or how credit cards work.

At any rate, anyone who would cosign for you when you have no job would be a fool.|||Go to your bank and ask for a pre paid credit card..use it for awhile then apply for a real one.
